I have felt very inspired by Design Sponge's before-and-after coverage. I'm a beginner, but I tried my best to follow the advice of some online experts like these guys, and just take my time. I am pretty happy with the result.
I found this hutch on craigslist for only $40. For paint I used Belmont White by Sherwinn-Williams (some paint we already had) and for the backing I pasted in Snow & Graham's Sprout paper with homemade rice glue. For the rice glue I used this recipe and tutorial and it was very easy. Apparently rice glue is supposed to be great for applying paper, because it is heavy-duty yet doesn't wrinkle the paper. I found this was true. For the new drawer pulls I found these bright yellow antique porcelain pulls on ebay for only $5 for all 6. Definitely easy on the budget, considering how I was very tempted by Anthropologie hardware that costs as much as $16 a piece.
