Thank You Post

The cheesiest, but funniest picture of my mom, ever.

My parents are very generous people.

My dad likes to love on us by growing pumpkins for our kids, buying guns for our husbands, telling us stories from the mouth's of our long-dead ancestors, giving us paintings and heirlooms to hang in our homes, and making sure his children have a place to stay while they get their feet on the ground (the little red house).

My mom does a lot too. She crochets and knits baby bonnets, sweaters, dresses, booties and stuffed animal creations fit for French boutiques for our children, cooks yummy food (one meal: homemade chili, rolls, fried indian bread, and blackberry jam) for our hungry tummies, and fills our once childhood bedrooms, now themed B&B styled rooms with bowls of chocolates and clean sheets and towels for visits home. Can you guess what her special love language is? Service. She likes to do things for people she loves. And the ones who are loved by her are left feeling full and taken care of. A very good feeling to have.

So all of this is very long introduction to pictures of my birthday present, a Mother/Daughter, Olsen/Snyder Dr. Laura cruise the week before last. Five longs days of eating, sleeping, and merriment. And then a brief less than 24 hour period with our favorite Janzens. Except for getting my Billy-crafted radio signed by Dr.Laura and doing a Walk for the Cure, all my mom, Connie, Kristen, and I did was eat and sleep. Seriously. We'd wake up, eat breakfast, nap, eat lunch, nap, eat dinner, stalk Dr. Laura, sleep for 12 hours and then repeat. It was GLORIOUS!

The only other thing that needs to be said is THANK YOU to my mom for the most marvelous birthday present known to motherhood. And THANK YOU to Billy, Grandpa Bill, and Jessica for coming together and taking care of Liam and Isla so all of this was possible.

We just get each other.
