These Guys Like Each Other

"Can't you guys just get along?" was my mom's mantra when we were kids. And I never quite got it. Why did she care so much if Annelisa and I clawed at each other like cats in heat? As long as we kept it confined to our bedrooms and all she heard was faint shrieks and made up curse words (wobble butt was our favorite), was it really that unbearable?

But now that I have Liam and Isla, I understand. When these two cuddle under blankets in Liam's bed, sharing stale animal crackers while exchanging belly laughs that get progressively more hysterical, my joy mirrors theirs and for a time I feel an emotion that sounds like: Yes, these children are from God. Look, their eyes still reflect His face. And as Jacob's Rebecca of Old, you, Rebecca, are blessed to be a mother. Hold them to your chest, do not let them grow up without a fight.

Hooray for posts again! Don't you love it when your babies are friends? Elliot thinks Dottie is hilarious, and Dottie is now starting to appreciate his adoration.

I can´t believe how much your kids have grown, I really regret not seeing them more before I left. Thanks for a solid blog so I don´t feel too left out!
