Halloween Pictures of Years Past

In no particular order:

Halloween 2006. Billy was a rockstar, I was something goofy (and sick as a dog with Isla-in-my-tummy sickness), Liam was a clown.

Liam as a clown, 2006.

Liam the Lion, 2005.

Our first Halloween as a married couple, year 2003. We were newlyweds, so Billy still did everything I wanted him to. Even if it was dress out as an eighties work-out instructor.

My Bootiful Billy making a silly face, as always. 2004.

Me and my loverly, Charlotte. 2004.

Lindsay in a rocking Super Barbie costume (one that I sewed/crafted, might I add :) ) 2005.

My favorite costume of all time: My sister Annelisa as Marge. 2003.

At Crystal and Chris's Halloween Party of 2005. I was a Pegasus, Billy was Man from Snowy River, and Liam was a lion.

Halloween Preview

Doctor's Visit and more

Weight: 17 lbs 7 oz (the night before Billy and I both guessed 17, 6oz)
Length: 26 inches
Percentile: Off the charts! Again!
Sleeping Routine: We moved Isla to a pack'n'play next to our bed two days ago, you know, just to see how it went. Well, it went WELL. The first night she slept 9 1/2 continuous hours in the thing and last night she slept 11. ELEVEN HOURS PEOPLE! No waking up and asking for a little milkies. ELEVEN HOURS WITHOUT MILK. I am still flabbergasted.

Below is a video of Isla giggling:

Happy 4 Months!

Dearest Isla,

Today you are four months old. You are no longer a newborn. I look at you and feel an electric breeze of joy rush over my mind, heart, and frazzled soul. You are my growing sack of fat, solid in my arms and squishy on my lap. Your thighs have six dimpled rolls and your hair has turned from dark to light brown. It is soft and wispy, but long and curly in humidity. Your Daddy is teaching you how to roll over, and it looks as if you might skip this developmental step and crawl first. In the nighttime you sleep between your father and I, snug and warm and oh so cuddly. Your brother Liam loves you with ferocious intensity. He likes to cuddle you, hold you, and when you cry in the car he says "No Isla, be happy." You are happy most of the time, smile easily, and I can make you laugh more than anyone else. Isla Quinn Snyder, you are my daughter and I love you. Happy 4 months.

October 9th

October 9th was the birthday of the boy who was my first kiss. His name was Marty Reid and he was ONE WHOLE YEAR older than me. That was a big deal when I was a lowly freshman and he was a SOPHOMORE! OH MY! My first kiss was utterly unromantic and witnessed by many people in the senior hall of my high school, gross, but I do remember it made my lips burn like fire. And that is what October 9th reminds me of: wanting love desperately and only finding something much, much less.

Things are different now.

Here is the man I love. His name is Billy. He is a good dad. And I like this picture.

To Kaisa's House We Go

I write about many people I extraordinarily love on this blog, namely Liam and Isla. I have featured close friends in posts from time to time. But, and this is a big BUT mind you, there are some individuals so sacred and beloved in my heart I cannot bear to write of them. My sister Kaisa is one of them.

She is my oldest sister. She is a mommy of two. Or a mommy of three if you count me. I love her.

Here are pictures from our trip to L.A. to visit her and her bootiful familia. Her cute husband, Matt, took these pictures.

The sub-heading to this post will be:

Goodbye Blogger Lovers

I am braving the big world by flying by myself with Liam and Isla. It is okay though, we are going to my sister's house in the city of Angels so don't feel sorry for me. I am MORE THAN OKAY!!!

Falling into Fall

The change in seasons has inspired me to hunker down with my kiddos and sew. Sewing is my mistress and poor Billy has lost his wife. I can't help it! It is just the perfect way to get the creative itch scratched and at the end I have something cute to wear to church. This skirt here is a Vogue size 10 but a size 2 in reality. I had to improvise and add an additional pleat just so the darn thing would fit over my Scandinavian arse. It's not perfect, but I am slowing arching my way through the learning curve.

Isla Three Months

The picture is lame-o, but here is a recent pic of our sweetie. She laughs now, by the way.

What is wrong with my camera?

Most of the pictures I've taken lately have been very blurry and unsharpened. There has also been the appearance of circular straitiations, kind of like the ones seen when you use the "tulip" focuser button. I apologize for my camera ineptitude, but maybe some of you know what is going on????

Right off the Billy Tree

September is National Sewing Month.

Not many people know this and the only reason I do is because I saw it on Martha.

Anyhow, our first sewing project this month was a "tool purse" of sorts. Billy found a beautiful industrial sewing machine at an estate sale and decided to give the machine a test run by making this "tool holder" he saw in Fine Home Building. I personally think it is really cute that Billy knows how to sew and even enjoys it a little.

(Interesting side note: the last name Snyder in German is "tailor")

After Billy finished this item that I cannot seem to accurately name, he filled it with some wrenches and placed it near the kitchen project.

Our dear sweet Liam did not waste any time. Within a few minutes he absconded with the "pouch" and delicately admired the tools inside. He promptly gathered a few of his own and added them to the collection. Note the yellow/red drill and gray hammer below. This is how we found it in the laundry room after he lost interest and moved on to other things.

Number #905,874 why I love raising a boy.

Good Reads

I am currently reading:

I am only 30 pages into it and have already fallen in love. He is the author of Kite Runner.

Just finished:

This novella can be read in an evening and will leave you with burgeoning thoughts. I recommend it.

I typically do not read horrors. They tend to be filled with smut and predictable plotlines. However, my mom recommended this book and I trust her taste. She was right, my friends. This book is suspenseful and delightful in it's page turning. It felt good to stay up 'til 2 in the morning just to finish it. I didn't even regret it the next day. I recommend it if you don't mind the occasional fright.
