This was meant to be a Before and After post, but you all--and by you I mean me-- are going to have to settle for the Before and In Between stage. For now.
When we first moved in we quickly realized the kitchen needed more than a face lift. It had a little to do with the look of it and a lot to do with the 50+ year lead paint and drawer fronts that pulled right off the drawers with a hard yank. When Billy took out the kitchen sink cabinet years of black mold accumulation revealed itself and our suspicions were confirmed. The kitchen was old and yucky and needed to die.
Seen first are the dining room and kitchen before total demo, then pictures of what it looks like now. We've removed two walls to open up the area, torn down all of the cabinets and counter tops, eradicated the black mold, replaced bad piping, ran a new gas line to the stove, and installed a sink and dishwasher. In the mix of all of this I've resorted to washing our dishes in the bathtub and feeding our family meals with zero preparation. Yesterday Billy and I had a very funny conversation about vegetables. We both couldn't remember the last time we had eaten one. Today Liam and I drove around the neighborhood looking for an apple tree to pilfer off of. I'm not lying, we eat a lot of BBQ potato chips and licorice.
So the kitchen remodel is coming along and we both hope to have it finished by Christmas. Don't laugh. This is an ambitious time line for us.

Oh my Becca, what a project! I really hope you get it done sooner then later so you can have a real meal again! Can't wait to see the after pictures!!!!!
OH Becca . . . I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that bad. The kitchen is the hardest to remodel, from my recent experience. And that was just me watching the contractors. I have faith in Billy, though, that you'll have it done by Christmas.
Becca- having seen the "in between", I am so excited for your Christmas miracle kitchen!! WOOHOO!
Gotta love it. But hey, if you could REALLY show what's been happening, people would know there HAS been some major progress!
and just FYI while I am thinking of it... every time I see "Snyderphiles" I think of PEDO philes, so maybe you should spell it with an "f" or think of another name...
We did a major remodel of our kitchen in Maine; knocked out wall, etc. etc. Our fridge was in the back hall...electric stove in the diningroom. It was worth it though. Finished product was wonderful! We then moved about 2 years later! :o( I too can't wait for the final pictures.
my parents remodeled our kitchen when i was younger and we cooked off a propane stove for a few YEARS- so don't feel bad. it takes time to do that stuff- especially working around jobs and kids! good luck.
