Isla has spent the first week of her life sleeping.
In her short moments of wakefulness she has endured Liam's eager attempts to love her and/or rough her up. It depends on how you look at it. He wants her to be his playmate and doesn't quite understand why Isla cannot sit beside him and play Legos or why her naps can range from 4 to 8 hours long. Yesterday he threw a royal tantrum when he realized I wasn't going to let him pick her up and take him to his room. I offered to carry him for her, but this did not do. He wanted to be the transport service and at his meager age of two years and two months I just could not oblige the request. It was a sad hour at our house. He loves his little sister and has quickly mastered her name: "Iya".
Isla looks beautiful in all of her cute presents. On Thursday she lost her umbilical cord and we are thinking she has an "outie". She loves the sound of Billy's voice and wakes up as soon as he comes home from work. It is so endearing seeing the two of them together. She likes to eat, a lot. I missed nursing quite a bit, so this has been one of my most enjoyable part of the past week. Billy and I are determined to make her FAT. We like baby rolls.

She is so pretty. Seriously, my friend, that baby makes me want one of my own....almost. :) I hope everything is going well for you guys. It's wonderful that Liam is so excited to have a sister. When you ask him where the baby is does he still point to your belly or does he get that she is no longer there. I'd love to talk with you. Send me an email when you have a chance.
