Liam's Two Year Check Up

Adios Bebe Liam

The little kid is right on track. He weighs 27 lbs and is 37 inches long, which apparently is right around the 50th percentile. As a baby he was always creeping off the charts around 97%, but something is leveling his growth, hopefully not the radiation liquid I've been feeding him. As he got his shots (just four this time) I said a little prayer to protect him against Autism. I hope that works. The recent press coverage on this desperate disorder has haunted my dreams.

As far as the bottle detox goes I am happy to report that he is fully cured of his addiction. However, he will forever be a recovering addict. The other day he tried to trick me into buying a bottle, saying it was for "his baby". Yeah, sure Liam. And all this chocolate I'm buying is for my pet monkey in the garage.

Ha Ha! Don't you feel like such a traitor taking them to the doctor, and worse, holding them down so they can get poked? so sad. i wanted to say that pregnancy dreams (like yours about the drugs) should just be ignored all together--cause i do NOT want to be held accountable in any way for the absurdities I dreamt while I was preg...giving birth to a litter of kittens, getting involved with a professor (shutter!), being attacked by little white rats...I want nothing to do with any of it. and those monkeys in yours and kate's garages are LuCkY!!

oops! and dictionary dot com has just informed me that "shutter" (in response to the dream about the professor) should in fact be shuDDer.
thanks for your comment on my blog. those "potent" days are frightening. I appreciate your wisdom.

When we weaned my 2 yo daughter from the bottle, we had to make sure we avoided the baby area of walmart so she couldn't see the formula display. Then they started moving the display around the store, so it was like going through a minefield, never knowing when the next corner would bring disaster.

oops, i thought your scary thought was a scary dream! yeah, i guess it is a little more scary that you were having those thoughts fully conscious...oh well! just embrace and that little bit of time when the meds are legal!

When are you due? I must mark it on my calendar. Start showing Liam pictures of me now, so he recognized old auntie Lara when I get back!
Can't wait...

nice! I'll have to use that once Aiden finds my stash of chocolate! I can't believe Liam is already 2!

I was really relieved to learn that some recent, large studies found no link between immunizations and autism. Interestingly, they did find a link between rates of autism and the age of the father.

But I still hate holding my baby while she is immunized. HATE IT.

There's no way Liam has autism and is highly unlikely to develop it (it'd be rare since he hasn't shown any signs yet). I may give useless mothering advice (since I'm not one :) ), but I am special education program grad who did her student teaching in an autistic unit! :)
