Detox Day #2

My child does not know how to fall asleep without a bottle securely nuzzled beneath his nose, above his chin, and smack dab in his mouth. This really wouldn't be too much of a problem, accept for the fact that IT IS. He sometimes drinks up to 3, maybe 4 bottles of milk a night, which means the following: 1. I wake up to fill his requests 2. He wakes up to a diaper bursting at its seams and 3. He has no appetite because his daily calorie requirements have been accomplished through his milk habit. Yesterday marked Day One of detox. We went cold turkey. Liam thinks the bottles are in the garbage, but they are actually packed away for baby #2. His birthday is Thursday and I am hoping by then he will have figured out a more peaceful, less tearful way of falling asleep. Any suggestions?

Here is a picture of him playing in his bed during what use to be nap time. He knows he is supposed to stay in his bed, but I guess I did not clarify playing in his bed does not count. Or does it?

That's right rebecca you stop that boy hard and cold. The first kid is always the "test case." But I've got to admit it's h--l on earth having to implement new rules when you're this pregnant. Well not that bad. The second time is easier because you know when to say 'no.' It's not like you're at the playground, looking around and realizing "huh my kid is still in diapers, on the bottle and not saying a word." The story about Liam on my blog is so true. I can't get through to Ross and Shannon's.

You go girl. :) That kid needs to be sleeping through the night without a bottle! Keep it up; don't give in. :) I'm sure it's hard 'cause he's just so stinkin' cute. :)

argh! i hate it when henry doesn't sleep, but as long as he stays in his room and gives me some much needed alone time-I'm ok. And I've found that if I leave him for long enough (1/2 hr. to an hour) he usually sleeps. ?? Good luck!

I think you are doing just the right thing...keep it up! I just hope he sleeps so you can get plenty of rest before the new little one comes!
