Birthday Time

Two years and two days ago Billy finished his second to last final of college and I completely my last day of internship with the Utah State Hospital. Like unencumbered and almost childless college students, we shunned responsibility and took early afternoon naps. It was not long into Billy's slumber (I never managed to fall asleep) when I began to feel consistent, every 3-4 minute contractions. THE TIME HAD COME.

I urged Billy to break the speed limit as we drove to University of Utah hospital in SLC from Provo. I thought I was going to have Liam in the car. When we arrived at the birthing center, we were mortified to find out I was barely 3 centimeters dilated. Whoops. Not as close as we thought. After a 2 hour walk around the hospital, we managed to squat, push, and pray my cervix to 4 centimeters. We did not want to drive home empty-handed. I was ready for my baby. The blessed nurses and doctors finally admitted us.

Five quick hours later our teeny creamy cabbage entered this world, first seen by my sister Annelisa, then by Billy, and finally--me. I was a mommy and my baby wanted to snuggle. He has been many things besides a joy since then, but after the past two years and two days, I think will keep him around.

Happy Birthday Baby Liam. WE LOVE YOU!

His birthday cake. It is a bus if you can't tell.

And the belly button, of course.

Click here for Liam's hilarious new stunt. For some reason unknown to everyone but Liam, it has to be performed with Billy's shirt up. So be prepared for frontal nudity.

Click here to see what happened when Billy tried to sneakily pull his shirt down and cover his stomach.

Hi Rebecca and Billy, and happy birthday Liam! Those are great videos. When I watched the last one I laughed really loud until I started choking.
