Feliz Cumpleanos Part Dos

Liam welcomed his very first birthday with the combined grace and raucousness of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and Jim Carrey. With a large piece of cake in front of him and dozens of hungry eyes looking on, he was trepid, then playful, and eventually a rodeo clown with an audience to please. He was too timorous to take a swat at the piñata, but he ate its innards with Gusto. And rode his favorite present, a musical stick pony, with the innate instincts of a true cowboy.

The single digit celebration was Mexican Fiesta style. We served spicy spinach wraps, homemade salsa and guacamole, 7 layer taco dip, Grandma Olsen's famous chili, and strawberry lemonade. For dessert, Grandma Snyder labored two long days to bake a cake resembling a red number one "Uno" card. Aunt Celeste uncannily guessed the EXACT number of Robin Eggs in the jar, and her son, cousin Nathanial was the Olsen brute to knock out the parrot piñata in just three strikes. All in all it was a fabulous party, attended by many people who love Liam dearly. A great big thanks to everyone!

Liam is cute as ever! When I first scrolled down and saw his face covered in a red substance, I thought it was blood.. glad to know that it was an Uno cake and not a raw meat themed party :).

Sooo, what's up with you? Did you run your marathon yet? I showed part of Napoleon Dynamite to my class the other day and they were not impressed that I know the Heders. They were like "does he look like that in real life?" Last time I try to make education fun!
